Statistics...bad for the ego
There is a nifty neat little tool on my blog site that allows me to track how many people view my blog each day. When I found it, I was thrilled, as this is pretty useful information to have. It helps me see which topics more people tend to read, or when my readership falls off. I can even tell from which sites most of the visits are being generated.
The down side to all of this useful knowledge? How about the readership drops significantly from time to time leaving me to try to account for why? Was it the previous topics; my lack of self promotion? Did I forget to ping? Ugh! Though it is a very frustrating process it has been found to be a very necessary one for anyone who wishes to become successful on any level in the world on blogging.
No one said having a writing career would be easy. In fact, EVERY book I read on it said how hard it would be. Yet here I am, mulling through it. Why would anyone choose a career so hard on their self esteem? Because someone, somewhere is going to read my words...
