The Perfect Card
Once, I read somewhere that you should always carry a stamp in your wallet just in case you find that perfect card for someone. In the age of emails, text, and picture phones, it's hard to imagine mailing a card and waiting for someone to get it. Yet, I still prefer a simple card delivered in my mailbox over a flashy e card any day. My second husband and I used to get those long sappy Hallmark Cards for each other and then add our own lengthy confessions of love to them. It was one of my favorite things that we had in common.
This morning I got very excited just out of the thought that in a few days a very special friend would be getting a card from me. It was one of those that I saw and it immediately screamed the person's name. I was thrilled. That doesn't happen a lot but when it does it is always good to be prepared. As soon as I got home, I jotted a cute little addition and signed my name. Next, I addressed it placed on that spare stamp before setting it out for the, mail carrier to pick up this morning.
In a world so complicated and full of so many material things, it is nice to know that the basic pleasures of a simple greeting card still exist. And can still bring so much joy.
